Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician engages in the preparation, control and distribution of medications. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma. • Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license. • Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification** **Beginning on January 1, 2010, within 2 years after being employed as a registered technician, a pharmacy technician must become certified by successfully passing the Pharmacy Technician certification Board (PTCB) examination or another Board-approved pharmacy technician examination in order to continue to perform pharmacy technician's duties. This requirement does not apply to pharmacy technicians hired prior to January 1, 2008.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Excellent interpersonal skills. • Organized and detail oriented. • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. • Ability to transport lightweight supplies. • Ability to perform duties carefully with direction. • Requires understanding that age specific patient care is provided with a special recognition for the neonate, child, and geriatric age groups and that appropriate age-specific knowledge in the performance of their distributive activities is important to the provision of pharmacy service. • Typing
