Position Summary:
To perform routine radiographic procedures on designated portion of the body for use by physicians in diagnosing and
treating patient illness and/or injury to ensure patient safety and quality care. The role of the radiology technologist I is
to ensure Customer Satisfaction, to support an atmosphere of respect and professionalism among other associates,
including students from the School of Radiology along with performing advanced imaging in Surgery and Fluoroscopy
Qualifications:
Education:
Must be a graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology Board eligible for ARRT registry exam Must. pass ARRT exam within 3 months of hire.
Certifications:
IEMA accreditation in medical radiation technology CPR certified Board eligible for ARRT registry exam
Essential Functions:
Determination of appropriate radiologic technique and position for patient using immobilization and support devices.
-Positions patient and adjusts equipment, secures, and immobilizes support devices as needed to perform procedures.
-Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient’s condition to obtain quality films to
provide to the radiologists
-Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed tests, medication reconcilliation and records on
appropriate form for the radiologist’s review
-Participate in team efforts to reduce wait times, report turn around times
-Assists radiologists with routine fluoroscopic and/or invasive procedures
-Operates portable radiographic equipment and C-arm effectively in patient room, intensive care, and surgery.
Compliance with established department safety standards to ensure patients and staff well being at all times to include
proper established safety procedures for all health workers, patients, and visitors. Monitors staff compliance with safety
rules: generate written documentation/incident reports related to safety issues. (10 %)
-Initiates request for emergency medical support as indicated by patient condition; this is to include code blue, rapid
response, etc.
-Documents all allergic reactions according to departmental and hospital policy
-Maintains a neat and clean work environment
